Mental Effects of Alcohol

Thursday, June 25th, 2009

Alcohol has the power to transform us especially when we are under the influence. The kindest of people can do the worst of crimes when they are drunk.

Dr. Henry Monroe states that an individual who drinks alcohol “becomes the helpless subject of the forces of evil, “which are powerless against a nature free from the morbid influences of alcohol.”

People are affected in different ways by the very same culprit, may it be alcohol or any other poison. We might be intoxicated temporarily may develop permanently.

Some persons experience a form of insanity called “dypso-mania” where a person has an unquenchable thirst for alcoholic drinks and develops a tendency for homicidal mania or the uncontrollable desire to burn which is pyromania or to steal which is termed as kleptomania.

  • HOMICIDAL MANIA. This type of mania occurs when a person experiences an uncontrollable desire to kill or hurt someone whenever his brain gets stimulated and could hardly restrain oneself.
  • PYROMANIA. This type of mania occur pretty much the same as Homicidal only you have an urge to burn or see something burning.
  • KLEPTOMANIA. This type of mania occurs when a person becomes intoxicated thus develops a strong temptation to steal anything that he might be interested in.

The following types of mania only occurs when one gets intoxicated and his reasoning and passions are not in control.

Isn’t it time to rethink whether a glass or bottle of alcoholic drinks worth it before somebody we love gets hurt while we are intoxicated?
